About

I am developing a completely free mental health app called “benzen.” Learn more at benzen.app!

I completed my Ph.D. in Machine Learning at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I was advised by Prof. Gari Clifford and work as a GRA at the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Emory. Prior to Georgia Tech, I completed my B.E. in biomedical engineering at Zhejiang University and Columbia University and conducted my undergraduate thesis at Massachusetts General Hospital.

I have eight-year research and two-year industry/clinical R&D experience in health tech. I was a research scientist intern at Meta Reality Labs and Calico Life Sciences. Before grad school, I also worked at Massachusetts General Hospital, the Institute of Brain-machine Interface at QAAS, DT Capital Partners, and Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital.

My expertise spans behavioral (video, speech, text, actigraphy) and physiological (electrical, optical, and mechanical) signal processing, wearable medical devices, brain-computer interfaces, and neurological and psychiatric disorders. I have led and managed over ten (multi-)year-long multi-stakeholder projects, published 10+ articles in top-tier research journals, reviewed 100+ manuscripts for conferences and journals, taught two undergrad-level classes, and mentored over ten junior researchers.
